Costa Rica carried out its first export of dairy products to China

Dos Pinos company is one of the most renowned and ancient country, leader in dairy.
This week was the first shipment of milk 100% Costa Rican Asian giant: China. The cooperative of producers of milk two pines R.L is intended to publicize their products in a very different market than the national, on the other side of the world.
With this export cooperative seeks to analyze and measure the level of response of Chinese consumers; for such purpose were sent two vans with flavored milk, whole milk, Lowfat and skim, which adds in total 31 500 liters.
This first shipment went to Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Tianjing.
"We are sure that our product like in this huge market, as it has been in the remaining 14 countries where today we have presence. Based on that level of response we will begin a process of geographic coverage and brand development in China, which undoubtedly opens a window of opportunity for cities such as Hong Kong and Macau and other Asia countries such as Singapore, with which Costa Rica has a free Trade” said Jorge Pattoni, general manager of Dos Pinos.
The plan is that Dos Pinos starts exporting butter, juices and nectar before end of the year.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture of Costa Rica, Gloria Abraham said that: "the achievement of the two pine trees is a firm step in the process of inserting our companies and food producers in a market as big as China, whose authorities have expressed interest in significantly increasing the levels of marketing with our countries. We will continue to support our sector in this goal through our animal health services and we are confident that in a short time, not only the Dos Pinos increase your sales and strengthen a niche in that huge market, but it we can announce the entry of other origin products agriculture, like pineapple, melon and meat".
A challenge for Costa Ricans is the good management of marketing in China, there is a varied competition, with products from other parts of the world. Two pine trees should work in that Chinese citizens will be able to identify with the brand.

Event of electronic commerce will have headquarters in Costa Rica


The next February 21 will be held in Costa Rica the international fair of electronic commerce, known as E - Commerce Day.
The exposure of the largest e-commerce world event will be held at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in the Costa Rican capital and promises to bring together more than 400 people interested in this practice.

In the first half of the year 2012, also related to this topic, the National Bank of Costa Rica announced its official partnership with the PayPal electronic payment system which represented a considerable step forward when it comes to shopping online.
According to a study published by VISA and the magazine America Economy, e-commerce grew at an annual 42.8, from 2010 to 2011, with sales that around 43 billion dollars.
The E-Commerce Day event is an initiative of the Latin-American Institute of e-commerce and has the Latin Pacific organization and the support of the Chamber of Costa Rica's information and communication technologies.

Tico flower producers seek buyers in Europe


Eleven companies exporting flowers and plants will exhibit their products this week at the world’s largest flora fair, the IPM Essen 2013 in Germany.
The event brings together some 1,500 exhibitors showcasing their products to 60,000 buyers from 90 countries, according to Costa Rica's Foreign Trade Promotion Office (PROCOMER).

costa developersCompany representatives also will participate in business meetings with buyers from Poland, according to PROCOMER Trade Promotion Manager Álvaro Piedra, who added that recent studies carried out by them show that the Polish market is very attractive for Costa Rican producers.

The results indicate that there are more than 200 Tico products with export potential to Poland, especially plants, flowers, foliage and fresh produce.

"Poland has a population of 38 million, is the sixth most populous country in the 27 that make up the European Union, and its economy has recently shown attractive economic growth," Piedra said.
In 2010, Costa Rica exported some $140 million in flowers and foliage, especially to the United States and Europe.
